Die Veranstalter haben lange und intensiv um die diesjährige Auflage des POWERMAN Alsdorf gekämpft. Doch Corona durchkreuzt nach 2020 erneut alle Pläne für Athleten und Organisatoren:

Zum zweiten Mal infolge muss der POWERMAN Alsdorf mit den Europameisterschaften im Duathlon abgesagt werden. 
Geplant war die Duathlonveranstatung für den 15. August 2021. Trotz intensiven Austauschs mit dem Gesundheitsamt, einem durchdachten Hygienekonzept und sinkender Wocheninzidenz erhielt der ausrichtende Verein, Marathon-Club Eschweiler, keine Genehmigung.

„Es ist schwer, die richtigen Worte zu finden. Die Enttäuschung ist riesengroß, denn wir haben fest an eine erfolgreiche Durchführung geglaubt", so Chef-Organisator Patrick Thevis. "Bis zur letzten Minute haben wir mit voller Kraft daran gearbeitet, dass die Veranstaltung unter entsprechenden Corona-Auflagen und Schutzmaßnahmen stattfinden kann.“
Das zuständige Gesundheitsamt teilte den Veranstalter schriftlich mit: „Gemäß § 14 Abs. 4 Nr. 7 Corona SchVO können Sportfeste und Sportveranstaltungen jeglicher Art ohne feste Begrenzung der Zahl der teilnehmenden Personen sowie der Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer frühestens ab dem 01.09.2021 stattfinden. Sollte es dem Veranstalter möglich sein, die Veranstaltung in den September zu verschieben, muss beachtet werden, dass für die Durchführung die Zuordnung der StädteRegion Aachen in die sog. Inzidienzstufe 1 gem. § 1 Abs. 4 Nr. 1 CoronaSchVO (Inzidenzwerde von max. 35) zwingend erforderlich ist.“

Diese und weitere behördliche Vorgaben machen eine diesjährige Austragung des POWERMAN Alsdorf unmöglich. Um allen Beteiligten eine schnelle Lösung anbieten zu können wurde innerhalb von 24 Stunden ein neues Datum mit Europe Triathlon und der International Powerman Association (I.P.A.) für das Jahr 2022 terminiert. Der POWERMAN Alsdorf soll am 10. April 2022 stattfinden. Damit kehrt das Duathlon-Event auf sein Ursprungsdatum, welches immer am zweiten Wochenende im April liegt, zurück.

Alle bereits angemeldeten Teilnehmer*innen werden automatisch auf das neue Datum vom 10. April 2022 transferiert. Sollte der neue Termin nicht passen, erhalten die Teilnehmer*innen das gezahlte Startgeld zurückerstattet. Dieses Vorgehen wurde mit den Verbänden abgestimmt und soll für alle Teilnehmer*innen in dieser weiterhin schwierigen Situation eine bestmögliche Lösung sicherstellen.

Das gesamte Powerman Alsdorf-Team wünscht den Athet*innen alles gute für die kommenden Monate und hofft auf ein erfolgreiches, gemeinsames Duathlon-Rennen im kommenden April!

The organizers fought hard and have shown great effort for this year's edition of POWERMAN Alsdorf. However, after 2020 all plans and optimism will again be thwart by Covid-19.

For the second time in a row, the POWERMAN Alsdorf with the Duathlon European Championships has to be canceled. 
Originally, the duathlon event was scheduled for the August 15th of 2021. Despite intensive cooperation with the local health department, a sophisticated hygiene concept and consistently dropping incidences, the organizing club, Eschweiler-Marathon Club, did not receive the necessary approval. "It is difficult to find the right words. Our disappointment is huge as we firmly believed in a successful execution of the event", explains race director Patrick Thevis. "Up to the very last minute we concentrated all our efforts to ensure that the event can take place safely and according to the current Covid-19 conditions.” The organizer got received the official statement from the health department in charge: "According to the German guidelines, sports festivals and sporting events of any kind cannot take place prior to September 1st. If the organizer is able to postpone the event to September, a local incidence of 35 or less is absolutely mandatory.“

These and further requirements by law make this year's POWERMAN Alsdorf impossible to organize. In order to create a promising solution for athletes and all involved sport associations, a new race date was immediately in cooperation with Europe Triathlon and the International Powerman Association (I.P.A): April 10th 2022 is the new event date for POWERMAN Alsdorf. Thus, POWERMAN Alsdorf returns to its original date - the second weekend in April.

All registered participants will automatically be transferred to the new race date in April 2022. If the new date does not fit into athletes' schedule, the participants will received their paid entry fee back.

This approach has been approved and confirmed by all participating associations and hopefully ensures the best possible solution for all participants to deal with this difficult situation.
